Special Care for Other Mammal Species Including Exotic Canids, Felids, and Primates
Exotic cats, canids, and primates are wild species that require highly specialized veterinary care and treatment when kept as domesticated pets. In their natural habitats these animals live according to the principle of survival of the fittest, but as pets living outside of their native environments and species, their survival and well being will be in your hands.
At Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care we offer basic and advanced care for:
- Exotic Felids — Lions, jaguars, cougars, tigers, bobcats, caracals, servals, and other exotic cats (no domestic cats)
- Primates — Chimpanzees, other apes, lemurs, marmosets, capuchins, and other monkeys
- Exotic Canids — Wolves, foxes, jackals, coyotes, and other canids (no domestic dogs)
As a result of their complex social, behavioral, nutritional, and psychological needs, we strongly recommend that you seek advice from a veterinary professional prior to purchasing or adopting these animals, in order to determine if they are right for you and your family, as well as legal to own.
Appointments Required
Due to the varied, and possibly advanced, veterinary needs of these species, we do require an appointment for all medical visits and boarding. By calling ahead you allow us to better prepare for your visit.
