Mark spent most of his free time as a child chasing reptiles around northern Arizona and southern California. He joined the U.S. Army after high school which gave him the opportunity to chase reptiles around the southeastern United States, Europe, and the Middle East. Mark has cared for and raised many species of reptiles over the years. Although reptiles are his primary interest, he has a strong passion for all exotic pets. He currently spends most of his free time fishing at Arizona’s desert lakes or photographing rattlesnakes.

Hospital Manager (Portland)
Mandy has been a veterinary assistant with AEVC since 2018, and is now our Hospital Manager. Mandy is a born and raised native of Portland, Oregon. She first worked with exotic animals when she was a ZooTeen at the Oregon Zoo in high school, and she was able to follow her passion by attending PCC's Biology and Management of Zoo Animals program, obtaining an Associate of Applied Sciences degree.
Director of Human Resources
Kendra graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor’s degree in biology and later became a Certified Veterinary Technician. She worked for a veterinary dermatology specialty practice, where she had the opportunity to work with several animals at the Phoenix Zoo. She has also rehabilitated sick and injured raptors and other birds while volunteering at Liberty Wildlife. Her interest in exotic pets and wildlife/zoo animals led her to a career in exotic pet medicine.
Executive Assistant
Lisa's had a love for animals ever since she was a little girl. She always knew she wanted to work with animals. Lisa began working with exotics when she lived in California. She continued her passion for working with exotics when she moved to Arizona and found us in 2018.
Administrative Assistant
Nikki moved to Phoenix 4 years ago from Tucson. She is a certified veterinary assistant and she is passionate about shelter and volunteer work. She worked in shelter and animal welfare for nearly 10 years before shifting her focus to exotic animal medicine. She has many reptiles at home, as well as dogs and a cat. Nikki aspires to become a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. She loves to read and hike in her spare time.
Public Relations/Administrative Coordinator
Katrina was born in Knox, Indiana and moved to Arizona in 2005. She has always had an interest in animals and obtained her Associates in Arts from Mesa Community College in May 2016 where she cared for all the exotic animals (a kangaroo rat, a pocket mouse, two salamanders, two desert toads, various constrictor snakes, two mud turtles, a crayfish, a black widow, a tarantula, desert tortoises, a bass, a chuckwalla, and desert iguanas) that Mesa Community College Life Science Department had.
Public Relations/Social Media Manager
Malik was born and raised right here in Tucson, Arizona. He began his content creation journey on YouTube in 2019. When Covid hit, he focused on his craft and built up his brand as an influencer, amassing a following of over 200,000 people. He studied with the leading social media networks, learning the ins and outs of social media management from their own platform developers. Malik is a trusted voice for influencer marketing and has worked with some of the largest brands in the world, including NZXT, Epic Games, and Fabletics.
Director of Inventory & Vendor Management
Ron grew up in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania and ventured to Arizona for warmer weather over 20 years ago. His continued love for the Sonoran Desert and the Superstition Wilderness Area is what still keeps him here. Ron joined AZEAH in 2015 as Inventory Manager. He keeps us well supplied with all of our hospital needs as well as maintaining healthy relationships with all of our vendor partners. In his spare time he enjoys mountain biking, backpacking in the Superstition Mountains, and spending time with his wife and two sons.
Lead Veterinary Assistant
Felicia was born and raised in Oklahoma. She has been in love with the science of veterinary medicine since she was a child. She began her work with exotic animals in high school through the junior curator volunteer program at the Oklahoma City Zoo, then she obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in zoology, and began working for an emergency clinic in Oklahoma after college.
Veterinary Assistants
Em was a Massachusetts native, until 4 years ago where she took a leap to the west coast. She has been in the veterinary field for 6 years, with experience with dogs, cats, exotics, and wildlife. She has a 12-year-old cat named Annabelle who she has had since she was a baby, and in her free time enjoys caring for her shrimp tank. Exotic animals have always been her passion, and she is excited to fully delve into this opportunity. Outside of work Em enjoys spending time with their partner, watching documentaries, and crafting.
Mary was a San Francisco native until 4 years ago when she traveled up north to Portland. She's been in the veterinary field for the past 6.5 years, working up from a receptionist to experienced veterinary assistant. She grew up volunteering and handling small animals at the San Francisco Zoo and has built a strong foundation with dog and cat medicine, holding a soft spot and great skill with nervous kitties.
Jake is a Minnesota native who moved to Oregon in 2013. Growing up on a farm in rural northern Minnesota, he spent his youth raising chickens, rabbits, dogs, and the occasional goose and miniature horse. He has a passion for the care and well-being of all creatures and animals, especially those that have been lucky enough to find a forever home. When not at work, Jake is an avid urban farmer himself who enjoys spending time with his goats, chickens, cats, dogs, and ever fluctuating number of rabbits.
Aeliana was was born in the Seattle area, and has always had a love for animals big and small. Growing up she spent time around many different animals, from horses to birds. Aeliana also spent time with rescues and did pet sitting for various animals. She has known she wanted to be working in veterinary medicine since she was in 3rd grade. When she moved down to southern Washington she was able to pursue that passion. She has worked with cats, dogs, and small mammals, and owns various reptiles.
Lead Receptionists
Juli grew up in a small town in the outskirts of Portland, OR where she grew up raising chickens, geese, goats, cattle and swine, just to name a few. Growing up she went to the same schools as her father and even had some of the same teachers. Juli has always loved animals, furred, feathered, or otherwise and has owned her own menagerie of exotic pets in the past. She went to PCC and graduated from the veterinary technician program and has been in the veterinary field ever since.
Receptionists
Blu was born and raised in Oregon and has had a love for animals since they were little. Growing up in the country, animals both pets and wildlife surrounded them. They would watch the bats from the barn fly overhead at night and catch frogs at the pond in the summer. After moving to the city their passion for animals continued. They volunteered with FIDO, a pet food bank in Oregon City with their family. They hope to be able to apply and attend school to become a licensed veterinary technician in the future.
Jackie is an Oregon native who has over 15 years of veterinary reception and client care experience. She has worked in both emergency and small animal practices, but has always wanted to learn more about the specialty of exotic animal medicine. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Oregon State University, and she also spent a year at Oregon Coast Community College where she earned a Certificate in Aquarium Science and participated in various volunteer and internship opportunities involving marine and freshwater fish and invertebrates.
Kathleen has had a lifelong love for animals. Her first pets were a guinea pig and silkworms when she was four years old, and she started fostering orphaned kittens when she was twelve. Kathleen's passion for wildlife and conservation guided her to earn a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies. With a desire to get hands on experience with a wide range of animal species, Kathleen completed the 2 year Biology and Management of Zoo Animals program at PCC.
